Geek 2 Chic

What happens when you take some of the top IT “geeks” today and put them on the catwalk?  Live magic, that’s what.

Bloomingdale’s Chevy Chase and Microsoft teamed up to host Geek 2 Chic: DC, a one-of-a kind fashion show, featuring 20 notable technology leaders from around the globe as models, all to benefit  Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) – a global non-profit that solely focuses on bringing entrepreneurship education to low-income youth.

With Angie Goff (News Channel 4) at the helm as emcee, these tech leaders not only modeled the latest in men’s fall fashion, they also gave us a glimpse into some of their (ahem) talents when they weren’t working.  This included reciting the beginning of Caterbury Tales in Old English, lassoing, singing, dancing and doing the splits – just to name a few.

Guests were also treated to passed hors ‘d oeuvres, drinks and a chance to play with Microsoft’s Kinect, bringing out the “geekiness” in everyone.  VIP guests were treated to reserved seating and gift bags.  All proceeds from the ticket sales, along with 10% of the evening’s Bloomingdale’s purchases were donated to NFTE.

The evening could not have been possible without BrandLink DC, The Aba Agency, Microsoft c/o Mark Drapeau, NFTE, DC Modern Luxury Magazine and of course, Angie Goff.
