Two great events on two wonderful evenings! Below are my recaps…
Becky’s Fund Walk this Way 2012
Underneath a starry sky at Kastle’s Stadium, a few hundred guests gathered together to help support the fight on Domestic Violence, through supporting Becky’s Fund’s Walk this Way 2012 fashion show. Co-Hosts Julie Donaldson from Comcast SportsNet and Dan Hellie from NBC4 kicked off the show, with brief remarks from Mark Ein, owner of the Kastles. Capitals’ John Carlson, Karl Alzner, Mathieu Perreault, Redskins’ DeAngelo Hall, Lorenzo Alexander, Chris Baker, Chris Wilson, Brandon Banks, Kedric Golston, Reed Doughty, Gary Clark, John Booty and Lavar Arrington walked the runway in Eric Finn Custom Clothier’s ensembles, while professional ladies walked the runway in custom designs, including those by Anchyi Wei.
1 in 3 people have experienced domestic violence in their lives and to show this, every third person in attendance found a pair of sunglasses in their gift bag and was asked to put them on and stand up. The sunglasses represented the most often-used method to cover up abuse – both mentally and physically.
When the show concluded, guests were treated to a performance by Sam James from NBC’s “The Voice”.
The after-party was held at DC’s newest nightclub Capitale.
Theatres des Vampires, Benefitting Children of Haiti
On Friday, October 5th, gracious host, philanthropist and artist, Don Patron, threw an early Halloween party at his home, to support Children in Haiti.
Completely decked out from top floor to front yard, Don’s house was transformed into a haunted, yet festive venue for costumed party-goers.
Those that attended were treated to fried chicken and biscuits, candy, plenty of beverages and music until the wee hours of the morning.
The event raised $5,000.
