According to domesticviolencestatistics.org, “Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women—more than car accidents, muggings, and rapes combined.” That, along with some other eye-opening statistics on this site, and it’s no wonder why non-profits, such as Becky’s Fund, emerge.
Becky’s Fund mission is to:
- Foster awareness: Help people understand the elements of domestic violence through education, such as its prevalence, why battered victims cannot always leave easily, and what can be done to fight against domestic violence.
- Encourage advocacy: Encourage people to care about and help put an end to domestic violence.
- Promote activism: Take an active role in helping battered victims find safety through counseling, education and legal representation.
- Create support: Provide support for victims of domestic violence.
With that, each year the Founder, Becky Lee, and her team put on a stellar fashion show (See last year’s Walk this Way event here), which this year I was invited to sit on the committee. Below are the details for this amazing, athlete-studded event. If you would like to purchase a ticket, make sure to assign the purchase to Nichole Devolites.
