I want to start off this weekly post with a heartwarming story, coming out of Ukraine. A special fashion show was put on, with mostly Ukraine designers banding together, to bring awareness to the handicapped in the country. Some models were blind, others were paralyzed yet, they came down the runway with confidence – even some of them had handsome male escorts. I’m hoping something like this comes to the U.S.
Another heartwarming story comes out of Miami where Dolores Cortés USA chose Valentina Guerrero – a tot with Down Syndrome – as their catalog cover model. She is one of the sweetest, happiest-looking babies and just proves to us all that beauty radiates even bigger from within.
What is also darling: Stella McCartney‘s Little Miss Stella line. I know a little girl who is about to get spoiled!
Fall fashion just got a lot more dramatic. The first peek at Helmut Lang‘s Game of Thrones collection is already getting people talking with the mashup of fabrics and colors. Click on the link above to get the full sneak preview.
… and if that theme isn’t enough, it looks as though everything Karl Lagerfeld touches these days turns to bronze, silver or gold. See the small collection he designed, in spirit of the Olympics. Honestly Karl, I could have created the same thing at a paint party.
Seriously though – one designer I never like to post about (because I think her clothes are trashy), has just come out with a shoe collection that is making me put my stiletto in my mouth. Madonna‘s Truth or Dare shoe collection is hot.
For those of us who like luxury goods at discount prices there is a new luxury outlet mall coming to the Bronx. I don’t know about you but if there’s a Louboutin or Dior outlet, I will make the pilgrimage.
… and while you’re out shopping, it might get a little hot. SO… head over to John Barrett’s Ponytail Bar first. Yes – gone are the days of using elastics or cheap clip-ons.

A week ago, Russian internet sites were ablaze over a 17 year-old girl who wore underwear to her high school graduation. Sigh. Isn’t this what graduation gowns are for? And, are people really shocked? How many of you knew at least one kid who wore ONLY the gown?
… and even though this girl still got her degree, Ryan Lochte almost didn’t get his gold medal because of a non-uniform mouth piece. Nelly is shaking his head somewhere.
So now that you’re done gawking, did anyone know Katie Holmes had a thriving fashion label?
Also, computer fashionistas be shocked – Christian Louboutin doesn’t know how to name his new shoe properly. Clearly those of us who understand, see a circuit board – duh!
Let’s add a little creepiness to this post. The Cut uses a caption with the photo below, “Cousin Itt pays a visit to Alexander Wang” with this long-haired mannequin. I’m sorry but if any of you have seen The Ring, there is NO WAY I’d go anywhere near this mannequin. Actually, I might poke it with a stick to see if it moves.
