For those females out there that have not seen Magic Mike yet, shame on you. Although some of the acting is bland, the performances and (lack of) costumes are not.
As such, reporters have been clamoring to interview the men of Magic Mike. Check out the behind-the-scenes stories from the men, including how they feel about thongs. Still, the ladies at The New Yorker wanted to see how this fared against real male strip clubs in New York. Check out what these strippers said about their fashion choices. More curious about how they physically look so good? One excited reporter was. Check out what she learned here.
Still, in the spirit of this movie, a reporter also managed to sit down with a financier-turned-male stripper for his take on the industry.
… and I’m still not done with the subject. Check out Channing Tatum from his stripper days. I didn’t know he had his brow pierced!
And speaking of men, check out more of the Men’s 2013 Springwear shows:
- Christian Lacroix and Mugler
- Louis Vuitton and Jean Paul Gaultier
- Kenzo, Bernhard Willhelm and Hermes
Also, check out the recap of the top six amusing menswear trends for spring 2013.
For those fashionistas that followed my news on Washington Life Magazine fashion posts, you would remember me announcing that Dolce & Gabbana were giving up their D&G label to focus on their higher end lines. Tomorrow, you will see the fruits of their labor in their first-ever couture show. Click here for details.
In the meantime, check out the latest from the couture shows.
- Versace Fall 2012 Couture – I love the pastels, the feminine shape and how wearable the collection is. It’s very romantically seductive.
- Chanel – I have to call attention to the bridal wear. It was completely stunning.
Alexis Mabille – check out the pointed hair!
Maison Martin Margiela, Jean Paul Gaultier and Valentino
Still, there is something to note with some of these couture shows – “wearability”. Check out some of the “out there” fashion statements made on the couture runway. Also check out the best of beauty down the runway.
In sweeter couture, creators Hissa Igarashi and Sayuri Murakami built an Alexander McQueen-inspired dress out of 50,000 gummy bears.

… and while you’re at it, I have managed to find the PERFECT shade of red lipstick. Helmut Newton is a well-known photographer for shooting super-sexy models from around the world, one of which is Jenny Shimizu. She has teamed up with House of Exposure to create the perfect shade that looks good on anyone. It’s in limited supply so hurry (purchase here) – I already bought mine. Look for a post on it when it arrives!
What might go well with this gorgeous lipstick – gold sparkly leggings, just maybe not at court. In New Zealand, Laura McQuillan was kicked out of a murder trial for wearing them. I guess a courtroom is not a place to be fashion forward… or looking like you’re heading to a disco.
What would also go with this lipstick? Christian Louboutin‘s Cinderella-inspired shoes. Sigh. I want. I want. I want. Now where is that handsome prince to surprise me with them?
What you should NOT buy, unless you are looking to ward off raccoons? Hannah Montana perfume. Check out this older gentleman’s video on how it works.
What seems to be making a comeback? Sewing machines. Check out the article on why there is such a “surge” in purchases (sewing enthusiasts will understand that hidden joke).
Finally… Choupette – Karl Lagerfeld‘s famous kitty will become a model!
