So each month I announce I am buying shoes that I’ve coveted for some time and each month, something gets in my way (this time it’s my car needing new tires, light bulbs and wiper blades, making my Mercedes the most expensive “pair” of Jimmy Choos one could own). Still, I was really itching to get the latest styles for spring (and the transition into spring) but at a lower price tag.
For those of you who don’t live around here or rarely shop, visit the DSW in Pentagon City. It’s HUGE and I’ve rarely left there empty-handed. This particular one debuts all the spring styles before most stores, offering so many different brands of the same style of shoe. You could spend hours contemplating between the different shades of beige alone. Given that I had already visited a few pairs I had my eyes on, my trip took a total of 24 minutes
Before I reveal what I got, it’s important to note that simplistic, clean looks are in – but so is height. I think the covered platform heel (both round toe and peep toe) is one of the greatest designs made to date. And, designers have perfected the comfortability factor as well. It’s hard to believe (and even say) that 5-inch platform heels are comfortable. It’s even harder to believe I could wear them all day. Below are my selections:
Kelsi Dagger
Never heard of this brand? You should. Kelsi Dagger is a fictional English literary Show Girl/ femme fatal name that Mr. Adoni and Mr. Giordano invented. Their shoes’ brand name speaks for itself. The platform heels I bought were begging to be bought in every color. The beige ones had already sold out. I can see why. The minute they slip on, they are instantly comfortable and sexy. They retail for about $90 a pair. They come in patent leather as well, for both black and beige.
Every once in a while, Guess impresses me with a shoe. This time, they surprised me with two. They make an incredibly comfortable closed-toed platform heel in beige (which also happens to be the PERFECT shade of beige), as well as a black patent leather peep toe sandal. They are inexpensive enough that if only lasting one season, I won’t cry.
Tim Gunn once said that the reason for Michael’s success, is due to his simplistic, elegant designs that anyone can wear. I completely agree. I was looking for a black leather peep toe, similar to the white pair I bought two weeks ago and sure enough, Michael came through. At $100, they are reasonable, stylish and comfortable!
Jessica Simpson
Saving the best for last were the pair I have NOT seen anywhere else. They were a complete impulse buy and I don’t regret it one bit! Fusing the two main colors for spring, with a hint of fire engine red made them the perfect shoe!!! Side note: Her shoes are always incredibly comfortable.

LOVE this.
The Jessica Simpson shoes are hottt!
